Methods of Examination

There are a several different ways your doctor may examine your IBD, each with their own advantages and limitations. Methods include:

• Blood tests
• Physical exam
• Stool tests
• Endoscopy (colonoscopy, gastroscopy, video capsule endoscopy)
• X-ray (e.g., abdominal, chest)
• Ultrasound
• Dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan
• Computerised Tomography (CT) scan
• Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
